2019
The Hub team won the Anders Gustaf Ekeberg Tantalum Prize from the Tantalum-Niobium International Study Center for “Evaluation of the mechanical compatibility of additively manufactured porous Ti–25Ta alloy for load-bearing implant applications”.
2020
At TMS 2020 held in San Diego, CI StJohn received the prestigious Bruce Chalmers Award that ‘recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the science and/or technology of materials processing’.
The Hub team received the International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture Most Cited Review Paper (Scopus Data 2018-2019) for “Recent developments and opportunities in additive manufacturing of titanium-based matrix composites: A review”.
2021
CI Cairney was the 2021 Acta Materialia Silver Medal Recipient for vital contributions to developing and applying new microscopy technologies that have been adopted in microscopy labs around the world.
CI Easton was awarded a Mercator Fellowship by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Hub CIs Bermingham and Dargusch put forward a successful Linkage Project bid with Stryker owing to engagements with the Hub (ARC $442,371 + Industry $375,000).
